Description: During Black History Month the national marrow donor program, Be The Match, urged more African-Americans to join their registry as volunteer bone marrow donors. There is a shortage of African-American donors compared to other ethnicities, which makes it difficult for those suffering from sickle cell anemia and other life-threatening blood cancers to find a perfect match. This illustration was created to accompany an article about this critical issue.
Description: I was tasked with creating supplementary materials to help promote the 2017 Riverside International Film Festival. The event has limited resources for media, press, and designers to use, so I had to craft an original illustration to represent the festival's themes.
The primary illustration on the front cover combines an orange (one of the primary symbols of Riverside, California), a map of the world, and a film reel. The theme is then repeated throughout the brochure.

2016 California Ballot Measures
Project: Motion Graphics, Illustration
Client: Black Voice News, Personal
Description: 2016 saw a record seventeen ballot initiatives introduced in California. In a collaboration with Black Voice News I developed a series of illustrations to represent each proposed ballot measure.
The seventeen illustrations combined to make a single image of the state of California, which was later used in an infographic to educate local voters. Each illustration was also animated and released on Black Voice News' social media in the days leading up to the election. The daily updates served as voter education and subtle reminders to vote on November 8.
Description: The following list of albums are some of the most important works to be released in 2016 by Black folks, in collaboration with Black folks, and/or for Black folks.
It was popular to say that 2016 was a terrible year, but that was not true concerning music releases. Works like Alwasta by Oddisee perfectly captured the zeitgeist of the time with songs like “Lifting Shadows” which describes the discrimination faced by many Muslims in the United States and around the world. While A Seat at the Table by Solange powerfully illustrated Black complexity and affirmed Black humanity through her songwriting.
Description: A "yes" vote on Proposition 56 favored increasing the tax on cigarettes by $2.00 per pack, with equivalent increases on other tobacco products including electronic cigarettes. Now that it has passed the revenue generated from the tax will be used to fund healthcare though Medi-Cal and treat tobacco-related disparities. This motion graphics project was used for a variety of social media advertisements in the week before the election.
